Here's what we put into the one we made for a dinner party of friends and Ayervedic students in summer 2010:
2 cup frozen peaches (recently frozen fresh organic peaches from our farm subscription)
2-4 cups juice (I think I used pear but maybe added water or other juice)
2 cup raw cashew pieces
2 cup frozen bananas
2 cup soft or soaked dates
I did not measure all ingredients. I'm pretty sure I used more peaches and fewer bananas than this list. This set is a doubling of the Juliano recipe with some substitutions. For doubling, you'll need a powerful machine like Vita-Mix to blend. In fact, this set of ingredients overloaded our V-M twice in the attempt to make it. Doing a single batch would probably work ok without overloading it. WARNING: if a V-M overloads, it takes about 20 min to reset and be workable again.
Put all ingredients in Vita-Mix and blend on high (after getting it going by putting liquid and softer ingredients at bottom) til mixed. You'll need to use the punch-down stick to get all the frozen stuff to the blades. Any questions or suggestions or other results, add to comments. --Ed
Thank Ed
ReplyDeleteWe loved this recipe.
I thought it was one of the best desserts i've ever had. And I am a huge dessert guy!
I am going to attempt it this week.
(Sans Vita Mix)
Much gratitude
